About the Work
We don't do catalogue pieces. Every project is designed from scratch, built to your dimensions, and installed by the team that welded it.
Custom fabrication is what started HEWS 25 years ago and it's still at the core of what we do. From a single bracket to a complete dump truck body, we work in mild steel, stainless, and marine-grade aluminum. CWB certified to CSA W47.1, Division 2.
Residential Custom
Fireplace surrounds, mantels, and metalwork that anchors a room
Our most-requested residential piece is the full fireplace surround with integrated firewood storage. We build the steel frame around your stove, fabricate symmetrical storage compartments on both sides, and finish it with a rustic beam mantel or clean steel shelf, depending on the space. Each surround is designed around the specific stove model, wall dimensions, and clearance codes.
Beyond fireplaces, we fabricate custom steel brackets, decorative metalwork, security gate panels, and one-off pieces for renovation projects across the greater Moncton area. If you can sketch it, we can build it.

Storefront doors, apartment entry systems, and directory panels
We install and fabricate commercial entry systems for retail storefronts, apartment complexes, and office buildings. Bronze-anodized aluminum and glass storefront doors. Full-height apartment entry systems with tempered glass panels. Stainless steel mailbox directory panels with locking fronts and custom resident listings. Every installation is measured, templated, and fitted to the existing opening.
Property managers trust us because we handle the full scope: removal of the old system, steel framing modifications if needed, new door installation, hardware, and weather sealing. One crew, one call, and the building is secure.

Heavy Equipment
Dump truck bodies, parking barriers, and steel built to take a beating
We fabricate complete dump truck boxes from the ground up: reinforced steel side panels, hydraulic hoist mounts, full tarp systems, integrated tool storage, and heavy-duty tailgates. Each box is built to match the specific cab chassis, whether it's a Freightliner, Western Star, or Kenworth. The result is a purpose-built body that outperforms and outlasts a factory option.
On the infrastructure side, we build and install parking lot barrier gates with custom arms, bilingual signage, and support structures. Security fencing. Equipment enclosures. The kind of steel that takes daily abuse from weather, traffic, and heavy use and holds up for decades.

Boat welding, dock stairs, and aluminum built for salt air
Coastal properties need metalwork that won't corrode in the first season. We fabricate dock access stairs, kayak launch ramps, and waterfront railings in marine-grade aluminum with grated treads for drainage and traction. We also weld aluminum boats — hull repairs, transom reinforcement, rails, tanks, and custom sailboat hardware in aluminum and stainless steel.
We serve waterfront properties across Greater Moncton and the Northumberland Strait shore, from Shediac to Cap-Pele. The salt air, tidal cycles, and ice push that destroy standard steel don't phase marine-grade aluminum. We build it to last the property, not just the season.

Every custom piece starts at the welding bench
Stair stringers cut to exact angles. Railing frames jigged, leveled, and welded square. Security panels laid out and checked before finish. What ends up on a job site was built right here first, measured twice and welded once.
